Cadet Commitments

Will Air Cadet training detract from school?

Not likely. The instruction is designed to supplement your school studies and education credits are available to grade 10, 11 and 12 students.

When do the Cadets train?

Mandatory Training Nights –  September through June
Mondays from 1830 to 2130 hours (6:30 – 9:30p.m.)
Additional training depends on which optional activities a cadet is involved in. A few examples. These may vary:

Band Sunday afternoons
Drill TeamSunday - mid-day
Effective Speaking Thursday evenings
Marksmanship & BiathlonSaturdays

Parent Commitments

What are the commitments for parents/guardians?

Parental involvement is essential to the squadron’s success.

At the very least parents should stop into the armoury on a regular basis at the end of Monday night training sessions for the closing parade. Check the information board just outside the squadron office, talk to squadron officers and/or members of the support association.

CO’s Parade Nights (when cadets are promoted) are excellent nights to do this.

The squadron conducts “Tag Day” fund-raisers two weekends per year fall and spring. A large number of parents are needed to help with driving and chaperoning. We will contact all parents by phone & email to schedule a time as the event draws closer.

As a Support Association member you are requested to lending some of your time and unique skills as a member of the Support Association Board of Directors or as a volunteer working with others.
We are constantly on the lookout for:

  • Accountants
  • Bookkeepers
  • Event planners
  • Parent drivers
  • Photographers
  • Website / graphic designers
  • Telephone liaisons
  • Language assistance
